Visa Finder
Find your Germany visa path
Germany has several residence pathways, and the one that fits follows from how your profession, qualification, recognition status and employer situation connect. proceda · Visa Finder shows which of them are worth examining before a procedure begins.
The Visa Finder supports orientation and preparation. Decisions on residence and eligibility rest with the competent German authorities.
What a pathway is built from
- Citizenship
- Profession
- Qualification
- Recognition status
- Employer situation
- purpose of stay
Six inputs, not one. Change any of them and the set of possible pathways changes with it.
Why there are several pathways
There is no single correct visa. There is the pathway that fits the situation.
Residence law in Germany distinguishes by purpose of stay: employment, training, study, recognition, job search. Two people with the same qualification can end up on different pathways because their purpose and their circumstances differ. Source: Make it in Germany; Auswärtiges Amt.
Same qualification, employer in hand
A concrete job offer opens employment-based routes. What matters then is the qualification, the profession and whether recognition applies to it.
Same qualification, no employer yet
Without an offer, routes designed for seeking work or for completing a recognition procedure come into view instead.
Same qualification, different purpose
Study, training or research are their own pathways with their own conditions, the qualification is only one part of them.
Comparing visa names without a profile compares the wrong things.

Employment
The residence question sits at the end of the preparation frame. It draws on everything decided before it. Dashed from stage six onward: preparation ends where an application can be submitted. See the complete journey.
One profile, several possible pathways
The same person, described one line at a time. Nothing is selected and nothing is ruled out, each line only narrows what is still worth examining.
- 01 Citizenship Whether a residence permit is needed at all, and which rules apply, starts here.
- 02 Profession The German profession decides whether recognition is part of the pathway or not.
- 03 Qualification Vocational or academic, documented or not. This separates whole groups of pathways.
- 04 Recognition status Open, running or completed: the same profile looks different on each of those three days.
- 05 Employer An offer in hand opens some routes and makes others unnecessary.
- 06 Purpose of stay Work, recognition, study, training or research, residence law sorts by purpose first.
Six lines in, several pathways remain open. That is the normal result, and the point at which orientation becomes useful.
Eight factors that shape a pathway
None of them decides on its own. They act together, which is why a single answer never produces a pathway.
-
Citizenship
Determines whether a residence title is required and which entry rules apply at all.
-
Profession
Decides whether a recognition procedure belongs to the pathway, and which authority is involved.
-
Qualification
Vocational or academic, and how it is documented. Several pathways are built on this distinction.
-
Recognition status
Not started, under way or decided, a pathway can depend on where in that sequence you are.
-
Employer
A concrete offer changes the question from “which route” to “which route for this position”.
-
Language
Relevant where the profession or the route asks for it, with the longest lead time of all evidence.
-
Purpose of stay
Work, recognition, study, training, research. Residence law sorts by purpose before anything else.
-
Receiving institution
Mission abroad or foreigners authority, the same case is prepared differently for each of them.
Sources for the factors above: Make it in Germany (residence pathways for skilled workers); Auswärtiges Amt (visa procedure and missions abroad); Anerkennung in Deutschland (recognition context).
Relationships, not isolated answers
A single answer rarely means anything on its own. It is the combination that carries information, and the combination is what changes when one detail changes.
Alone
“I have a degree.”
Says nothing about a pathway. Neither the profession, nor the purpose, nor the recognition question follows from it.
Combined
Degree + profession + purpose
Now a direction becomes visible: whether recognition is part of the route, and which institution receives the file.
Changed
One detail moves
An offer arrives, or recognition is granted, and the set of relevant directions is a different one the next day.
This is why orientation is repeated, not done once.
What the Visa Finder does, and what only an authority decides
proceda · Visa Finder
- orders your inputs into one profile
- shows which directions that profile makes worth examining
- names the information still missing for the next step
- keeps the picture current when one detail changes
Only the authority decides
- whether a residence title is granted
- which conditions apply in your individual case
- which evidence has to be submitted, and when
- the outcome of the procedure
Where this continues in the proceda App
-
proceda · Visa Finder
compares residence routes against the data in your profile and shows which of them can be relevant
-
proceda · Process Check
structures the procedural consequences once a direction is chosen
-
proceda · Document Management
holds the evidence a route requires, in the form the receiving body expects

What a pathway is built on
Clarify the profession in German profession equivalent and check its status in regulated professions. The formal side runs through the recognition process and recognition documents, and the preparation of the evidence through document preparation.

Understand the direction before you choose the route
In the proceda App the profile stays in one place, so when an offer arrives or recognition is granted, the set of relevant directions updates with it instead of being worked out again.
proceda App supports orientation, preparation and structure for the Deutschlandprozess. Eligibility for a residence title, residence decisions and their legal assessment rest exclusively with the competent German authorities.
